Online School

*A villanelle is a French verse form in nineteen lines that follows a specific pattern of two rhymes and an alternating refrain.

School is five feet from where I rest
One must have willpower to stay attentive
Don’t even attempt to get nicely dressed

Cameras to the ceiling, unable to see our chest
Our appearance makes us apprehensive
School is five feet from where I rest

This year will go by like a pest
It is hard for us to be expressive
Don’t even attempt to get nicely dressed

Is it all for the best?
We are online but so disconnected
School is five feet from where I rest

Can it be called house arrest?
The painful peace is pensive
Don’t even attempt to get nicely dressed

Let's come together and manifest
A better future, no stress
School is five feet from where I rest
Don’t even attempt to get nicely dressed
